Have you ever been in bed and have all these images race through your head of all the loose ends you need to gather and do before you go on a road trip. You are constantly asking yourself and visualizing " what if this happens, then I should bring that" and then there is the endless to do lists. I figured that if I did not post today I might not get around to it tonight or tomorrow.

I will be teaching a joint workshop with Thomas Blackshear and Chris Hopkins , major award winning illustrators and artists , at the beautifully idyllic Box R Ranch outside Asland Ore. May 5 - 8 . This is the second time I will be doing this workshop and I am so thrilled to be invited back again to speak and to paint. I will be teaching some portrait and plein air techniques during 4 days of the Workshop . What hard work! The Workshop/Conference is setup to encourage Christian artists who are striving to be a blesssing by seeing art as a vocation and not just a means of ego or financial gain. You get to hear me pontificate ....its great , I get a captive audience. The Workshop is first class. All meals are included as well as lodging and Don Rowlett and his daughter Jeanie , the proprietors , make you feel right at home. Don is not a household name but I'm sure you all may have shopped at his brainchild business ... Ross Dress for Less! The accomadations are spectacular and if you go you will see that I am not blowing barnyard smoke. I hear it is filling up ...so if you can make it and afford it.... we will all be having a great and memorable time!

I will be in a group show at the S12 Gallery . I have 5 paintings, including the piece above , in the show. The big kickoff is this Saturday and the gallery is located at 1200 S Street in Sacramento from 6-10 p.m. The show concludes April 5th. Don Hatfield is the featured artist and all of us are either brave or foolish to be in a joint show with him. He will be there as well as another artist in the show Connie of " Fresh Paint " on Saturday night.

Also , I will be starting a Portrait Workshop in a studio in Meadowvista. It wil be a drop in session where the cost will be around $15 and instruction and direction will be included. The studio belongs to Park Merrill and it is a good size and well lit. At this point , we are planning to have them on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 9 . Its going to be fun. More particulars soon to come.
My Auburn Workshop starts in March 25 and it perfectly suited for still life as well as plein air teaching. I will be at the Justus studio and the view which looks towards vineyards and Folsom Lake is breadthtaking, I feel inspired just typing about it. I want to turn you guys on to Debra Pero's art and blog. I've talked to her over the phone and she only has been painting a few years. Well, if that is the case ... I am really impressed. She paints like a pro and gets it. Stop by and give her a shout out. She demonstrates sensitive and confident brushwork and her command of the centrality of focus is spot on. I am also impressed by her sense of arrangement and making paint breath. You go girl!!!!!!
