Let's start with a couple things I saw in Illinois when I was visiting my mom—yes, I did keep an eye out for displays even then, since the hospital gift shop and cafeteria didn't meet all our needs so I ended up running out to other places. In the combined drug/grocery store where I bought dinner one night, I saw a brand that was new to me: Princessa. The bottles looked similar to OPI, but I'm not sure of the quality of the polishes inside. They were on sale for $1 each, so I grabbed a few to try; with my current swatching backlog, look for those sometime next year (I exaggerate only a little).
At a Walgreens which was built on the site of a local grocery store my family shopped at when I was growing up, I saw this fancy lit display of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure and Essie polishes. It looked impressive, but it was hard to see the individual colors with the light coming from below and behind.
Last time I did a display post, I hadn't seen the full size Fergie one for Wet 'n' Wild. I finally did see it at the Walgreens closest to my house, which hadn't gotten them as early as some other stores. The beauty SA there, who knows me by now because I'm in there just about every week asking her what's new and talking nail polish, said that store was going to be carrying some of the Fergie colors in the core section but she didn't know which ones yet. In this display, left to right, top to bottom: New Year's Kiss, Going Platinum, Grammy Gold, Glamorous, Flossy Flossy, Kaleidoscope Eyes, Miami Spirit, Glowstick, Dana, Mermaid Curves, Blue Eyed Soul, Dutchess, L.A. Pride, XoXo, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Fergalicious, Take the Stage, Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night, Make Them Boys Go Loco, Velvet Lounge, No Place Like Home, Rock 'n' Roll, Heels of Steel. You'll notice a couple of empty slots, too. I think one of them was for a second batch of Hollywood Walk of Fame, which has usually filled two slots in the full small displays I've seen. The other is where the one Fergie color I've not yet seen should go. It's called Ferguson Crest Syrah and appears to be a dark wine color based on the tiny square I saw on the Wet 'n' Wild site.
In my second to last display post, I shared a couple different Maybelline Color Show displays, including a tower with 20 shades in it. I've since seen the same tower, but with 40 shades in it; instead of cardboard inserts with ad photos in half the openings, this tower had more polish. I've see it at both CVS and Rite Aid stores. CVS had a display of Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors that looked new at first glance, but on closer inspection turned out to have the exclusive colors that first turned up when the core display of NOPI went into CVS back around February of this year. Six colors: Paparazzi Don't Preach, Ladies in the Limelight, One Big Happy Fame-ily, Strike a Pose, Back to Reality TV, Our Fuchsia's Lookin' Bright.
I saw that same display at another store, vandalized by someone who apparently didn't like these ladies. Whomever did this put some though into it since they didn't just paint over all the faces with the same color.
Walgreens seems to have the most variety in their displays store to store; I'm not sure if the individual managers have more leeway or what causes this. I've seen this Nabi Metallic Nail display is only one Walgreens around here. I didn't record the color names because there are just so many and they're inconveniently on the bottom of the bottles and I was not feeling patient enough that particular evening to pull each one out to see what they were. If you're curious about these 30 shades, they're shown on the Nabi Cosmetics site (with pretty decent bottle pictures, which is nice).
At a different Walgreens, I saw a brand that I'd seen other cosmetics from before but not nail polish: Black Radiance. This Girls Rock display was jammed on a bottom shelf, sitting on top of its display card (which I pulled out onto the floor to take a photo of—I am really surprised at how little attention people pay when I'm doing stuff like this). Six colors here: Diamond Sparkle (silver glitter), Swag Rock (multi/silver hex glitter), Pretty Girl Rock (pink/multi small glitter), Super Star Status (bright warm pink creme), Rock Your Radiance (purple shimmer), and B-Girl (teal shimmer).
At yet another Walgreens, I saw two things from Revlon I hadn't spotted before (though I expect they will show up at other drugstores before too long). The first was a single-color display called Runway Report with a black and silver glitter called Sparkle Aplenty.
A couple displays down from the glitter was a Revlon Nail Art display called Passage to India, with "exotic crackle duos". The crackle half of these look like they were recycled from the Break-Up duos that came out this past winter. Shades are: Sari My Dear, Star of the Bazaar, Taj or Mirage, Nama-Stay Awhile, I'll Chai My Best, Cumin Nature, Apple of Mumbai, Lavish Lapis.
Meijer had some displays from L.A. Colors. The first was a Brites Display of Color Craze. Left to right: Fun in the Sun, Wave Length, Fiji Purple, Shock, Current, Static Electricity, Sea Siren, Wave Length (again).
Then there was the L.A. Colors Art Deco display. I've seen these at dollar stores before, but not in a display like this.
I would be hard pressed to do the designs they show on the display at all, much less using just stripers, but maybe someone with more skill could.
Finally there were the Polka Dot Nail Art packs, with three mini bottles and a dotting tool packaged together.
Rite Aid had some different L.A. Colors, a set of seven Halloween-ish colors tied into the movie Fun Size, which I've only heard of because Riki Lindhome is in it and I heard her on Doug Benson's podcast.
Sally Beauty got the China Glaze Bohemian collection before any other place I shop. Six colors here: Unpredictable (green), No Plain Jane (purple), Rare and Radiant (olive), Deviantly Daring (teal), Swanky Silk (peachy taupe), Want My Bawdy (blue).
Sally's also had the fall Finger Paints Collection, Fall of Surprises. Six colors here, too: Falling for You (turquoise shimmer), Plum Startled (purple shimmer), Be-Leaf It or Not (sage green shimmer), Take It or Leaf It (taupe metallic shimmer), Gourd or Bad (orange/teal/purple/gold glitter), and Fall of Surprises (copper glitter).
There were a few new Piggy Polish displays at Ulta. It's All Bright With Me had white and neons: Ivory League, Beauty Needs No Pencil, Sunrise Skies, Off with Their Reds, You Alone Are You.
The Dog Days of Summer had Beach Ballet, Pier Effect, and clear.
Where Stars Meet is three glitters: Where Stars Meet, Garden Galaxy, and a mostly blue on that hasn't had a name sticker on any of the bottles I've seen at three different Ultas.
Also from Piggy Polish, a Newspaper Nails kit with white polish, rubbing alchol, 20 strips of newspaper, and a "precision applicator for clean-up".
The Butter London Autumn/Winter 2012 collection was nestled into the top center of the core display at Ulta. Five colors: Lovely Jubbly, Trustafarian, Gobsmacked, Shag, and Dodgy Barnett.
OPI is between collections right now, but Ulta had the Outrageous Neons mini set: White Base, Ridiculously Yellow, Formidably Orange, Riotously Pink, Seriously Purple, and top coat.
Last but not least, the reason I am going to let Sinful Colors back on my blog: the big display which had the stolen blogger photos has been updated. There are stickers with new nails pasted over the the two images onto which the bloggers' nails had been placed without their permission. (The third photo was still there, presumably because no one stepped forward to prove it was their manicure.) The pamphlets with the stolen photos were also gone; the little holder wasn't even there anymore.
I'd still like to hear from the bloggers involved that Sinful has made things right with them personally, but the fact that the displays no longer show the stolen images shows the company listened to our complaints and took action.
