Try to Catch Your Breath! New P!nk and Kelly Clarkson!

Rebellious pop artist, P!nk, recently sent her latest album The Truth About Love to the top of the Billboard 200, the first number one of her decade-long career. After the success of the sassy, pop heavy, lead single "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", which peaked at number six on the singles chart, the artist and her label chose to service the beautiful ballad, "Try", as the record's official second single. Good decision in my opinion. The song is show-stopping, one of the main highlights of the album, and I could not wait for the video treatment. Luckily today the singer decided to unleash what she has been working ever so hardly on. The end result is one of the best music videos of her career. I would place it second behind "Just Like a Pill". But I will let you decide for yourself.

As my anticipation was building for this visual I was expecting to see something somewhat similar to the Target commercial exclusively promoting P!nk's album. The commercial showing the artist floating on metallic colored bubbles. It looked surreal and would have been a sight for the eyes, but what the video turned out to be is about ten times better than what I figured. "Try", is heart-wrenching, discussing the breaking of a relationship but wishing you could put the pieces back together again to make it whole. The video showcases an abusive relationship between two gorgeous people that switches back and forth from loving to hateful as quickly as one could change their clothes in the morning.

I love everything about the music video and I guarantee critics will eat it up. P!nk is a hard working artist and the difficult dance routine performed in the video just cements that statement. The fighting between the couple is woven into the dance sequences featuring P!nk and the sexy as hell male dancer- those abs are to die for, another reason you should watch- which leads to the artist choke slamming her lover through a table. Ouch. The routine has meaning, it is artistic, and throwing in the colorful dust just adds to the beauty. I do not know what came over me but at times during my third viewing of the video, my eyes started to get watery. That usually indicates I am head-over-hells in love with something. Now I am on my knees praying "Try" is the hit it deserves to be.

It is hard to believe that the very first winner of American Idol, Miss Kelly Clarkson, has already been releasing music for a decade, but I checked, wondering why time is flying by so fast, and it is true. As with every artist who has made it a decade in the music industry, a greatest hits album is to be expected and Kelly would not want to disappoint and break from the norm. Greatest Hits - Chapter 1 is the upcoming album's title - yes innovative I know - and it is set to feature all of the singer's top ten hits and three brand new songs, including new single, "Catch My Breath", which made its world premiere this morning. The new song is the typical Clarkson track, and that is far from a bad thing. Well-written lyrics and perfect vocals are featured on this new effort which should surely skyrocket into the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 as soon as its official release date approaches.

"Catch My Breath" is said to be a representation of the singer's journey since winning the first season of the singing competition show that made her a household name to her current life as a 30-year-old pop artist. Clarkson wanted to create a song that would celebrate the strength her fans, family and friends have given her throughout her career and I think she succeeded. The new track does follow in the footsteps of other pop-rock-dance songs that have been released in the past few weeks, but Kelly's gorgeous vocals still separates her from the pack. This song will surely become another weapon in her arsenal to prove she is capable of diva status. Not that I don't consider her to be a great diva already.

"Now that you know/This is my life/I won't be told/It's supposed to be right," Clarkson belts as she hits back at all the critics she has endured during her career. I feel the song is everything the singer should be releasing, fans will fall in love once again. With this new, rather unexpected, offering and her latest album Stronger, which brought the artist back into the spotlight where she belongs, I think it is safe to say Kelly is not going anywhere anytime soon. I love this song, it is on repeat already, but I wish she would have saved it for a later date. To be honest, I was hoping more songs off Stronger would get a chance to shine. Wouldn't it have been great to hear "You Love Me" or "I Forgive You" blasting through every radio speaker? I think it would have. Listen to "Catch My Breath" and enjoy the greatness.
